Sakura season is the time for hanami (flower viewing) so many parents and grandparents come and take their children to the parks, rivers, and mountainside for camping.

• Golden Week (Late April)

Many workers in Japan will have time off, so this is the best time for them to fly domestically. Some hotels, travel tours, etc may be inaccesable due to over-crowding.

• Summer Holiday (Mid July-Early August)

Many students will be off of school, so parents will take this time to go back and visit their families in other prefectures .

If you are a skier or a hot spring go-er, you would likely have to book accommodations well in advance as people migrate to the North for recreational time in the snowy mountains.

If you have no choice but to travel during peak times, then be prepared. You may need to book flights, accommodation and restaurant reservations in advance.
